Darts Youth Academy
13 year old Mel Oakley is organising a
charity darts day at the Entertainer tomorrow (Saturday)
in aid of Cerebellar Ataxia. Anyone interested in a few
games at the home of Andover darts and raise funds for a
worthwhile cause then the doors open at 10 am.
The Academy welcomed two new members in
Josh Lambell and Sam Ellis who have both made a positive
start on the pairs competition.
Jake Urwin and Lambell are tied at the
top the league with Craig Pike and Jamie Gentleman on 9
points. The handicap singles is still led by Sean White
on 30 points ahead of Gary Thorne in second on 27. Jamie
Gentleman and Charlotte Burgess are on 25 and Craig Pike
doing well on 21.
In the juniors Oli Burgess was the weeks
top player winning all his games closely followed by
Liam Bowman who also had a very good week.

The Handicap singles league is well under
way with the prospect of an exciting finish in December.
Current leader is Sean White on 27 points from Jamie
Gentleman (25), Luke Goddard and Ray Lockington both 22
and Craig Pike on 21. Best placed lady is Charlotte
Burgess (19) followed by Christine Pike on 14 but with
many games outstanding there are likely changes ahead.
Top performances last week came from
Charlotte Burgess with two 24 dart 601 legs, Sean White
and Arron Monk both recorded 25 dart 701’s and Ray
Lockington’s 120 checkout proved to be highest. There
were further good wins for Mel Oakley, Danielle Hopper
Becky Chilton and Karl Brooks.
6th October
 Last
week at the Academy Ray Lockington, Luke Goddard and
Jamie Gentleman stepped up to the Senior 701 Singles and
acquitted themselves well. Gentleman was most impressive
checking out on 126 and 80 for a brace of 27 dart legs
at 26 per dart. Lockington also finished on 126 and
Arron Monk on 108 for another 27 darter. Monk also had
the fastest leg on the night (26) but Gary Thorne
remained the only unbeaten player on the night with 4
straight wins.
Nick Chilton and Charlotte Burgess proved
top in the mixed pairs with four wins from five ahead of
David McFadden and Sam Pike (3) and Karl Brooks and
Danielle Hopper on 2.
In the Handicap Singles there were three
wins each for Craig Pike, Mel Oakley, Becky Chilton and
Terri Newman.
In the 29’s event Arron Monk topped
scored on 364 while Gary Thorne (286) and Sean White
(274) achieved season’s best. The Junior-Pairs
competition is hotting up with Kelly Paine and Jordan
Edmonds winning all five matches last week. Other good
performances came from Rhys Collins and Ryan Morgans and
Luke Baird and Molly Dawkins who each won three.
